Sex and the City: The Beauty Edition

If you’re like me, you’ve spent more than 4 years waiting for a glimpse of your four favorite ladies back in action, and today you finally found out where the world took our favorite city girls, Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda with Sex and the City: The Movie. And while we’ve seen Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon in various movies or shows while anxiously waiting for them to buddy up again, they all seem to return together on the big screen looking like a day hasn’t passed—in other words, they look damn good. More than the ins and outs of their love lives, I was way more interested in how they stay so beautiful.

Sarah Jessica Parker: Carrie Bradshaw favored NARS, you could spot the classic black rubber packaging on her vanity in her bathroom in countless episodes. She applied NARS Lip Lacquer throughout the show’s six seasons, but while she always looks flawless with a natural glow and seamless makeup, Sarah Jessica is a bit harder to pin down when it comes to her must-have brands. Insiders told the New York Post that she had been known to have Boots products flown in from England before they were readily available at Target on this side of the Atlantic. The unconventional beauty is also a huge fan of Global Goddess Beauty —she loves their bronzer, mascara and liquid eyeliner and has called the line beautiful.

And though SJP may not be typing away at the computer like her writer alter-ego Carrie, she still manages to keep her hands looking and feeling in tip-top condition. She helped famed-manicurist Deborah Lippmann to create a nail polish to suit her liking—the Sarah Smile from Lippmann Collection and it really is the perfect pink polish – and one of their most popular shades. She has also been known to keep her hands soft and hydrated with Barielle’s Professional Protective Hand Cream.

Cynthia Nixon: She may play a high-powered laywer who’s wound a little tight, but when it comes to her skin care, the fair-skinned beauty relies on a more relaxed holistic regimen with Dr.Hauschka Skin Care products, specifically with their Everyday Mattersa daily skin care kit that includes a detailed 3-step cleansing protocol utilizing the Lavender Bath, Cleansing Cream, either Facial Toner (included in the “normal skin” set) or Clarifying Toner (included in the “oily skin” set), and a certified Biodynamic Egyptian cotton compress.

A fan of NARS as well, Cynthia has been known to whip out the Dolce Vita lip gloss, as well as the movie appropriate, The Multiple-Orgasm. Whether her hair is blonde, red, shorter or longer, Cynthia’s stylist keeps it in line, with shine, volume and hold usingBeing Sexy hairspray, one of Rusk’s newest products.

Kim Cattrall: While she keeps her sexy skin healthy with MURAD products like Oil-Free Sunblock SPF 30, celebrity make up artist Nick Barose applies Styli-Style L3 Lipstain to get her pout looking perfect. She gets her eyes smooth and line-free with SkinMedica TNS Illuminating Eye Cream, and she plumps up her pucker with the TNS LipPlump System, according to her on set makeup artist, Kyra Panchenko, who used the products all through the filming of the movie. Kim’s hair stylist makes sure her tresses are flowing and smooth with FHI Heat flat irons.

Kim, like her co-stars, has a spot for NARS and gets her even skin tone with theirBalanced Foundation in Fiji and her come-hither eyes vibrant and shimmering with their Duo Eye Shadow.

Kristin Davis: Though she’ll say she isn’t too much like her traditional-minded character, Charlotte, Kristin’s clean-cut beauty is undeniable, and her secret to youthful, fresh looking skin?  Israel’s Dead Sea via AHAVA. She’s a fan of their Cleansing Milk,Mineral Eye CreamPurifying Mud Mask and Age-Defying All Day Moisture SPF 15, and the minerals, salts, and botanicals from the infamous waters help her maintain her signature healthy glow.

And her makeup is pretty flawless thanks to the Beautyblender sponge she’s been know to use—its elliptical shape makes application foolproof by allowing you to access hard-to-reach areas with ease. She gets her nails looking polished with NARS Bohemia and gets a natural glow with their Bronzing Powder in Casino.

For those of you in search of a flawless finish, please continue reading…

Have you ever watched a movie, but you weren’t really watching the movie, you were actually gawking over some starlet’s amazing skin?  You remind yourself that she has a makeup artist on set that makes her look so fab, but inside you still covet her flawless skin?

Well, if that’s you, there is no need to be green anymore thanks to Hollywood makeup artists, Rea Ann Silva and Veronica Lorenz.  They have created the perfect makeup sponge, Beautyblender, that will leave you with a professional finish and a flawless complexion.  Ordinary triangular sponges leave streaks all over the face and fingers (as well as sponges) and just waste makeup.  The elliptical shape of the Beautyblender sponge lets you reach hard to reach places with ease.

The suede texture of the sponge is smooth on your skin and its curves fit the contours of your face.  You will be left with a stunning face and your makeup will be undetectable.  To keep your face gleaming, you’ll need to make sure to sanitize your sponge regularly.  The folks over at Beautyblender have made up an easy solution to this problem, with their Blendercleanser.  The cleanser helps to keep your sponge clean and sanitary and your face free of added oil and dirt.  The cleanser even has a built in pedestal for your sponge to dry on.

The Beautyblender and Beautycleanser can be purchased individually or as a set.  If you’re like me, you’ll want the set to experience the product in its utmost capacity.  The sponge works well with both liquid and powder foundations, so now there is no excuse not to look like your favorite screen queen.  Personally, I want to squeeze the hell out of that sponge.  It looks like a stress reliever.

Here’s a list of a few celebrities who owe their movie star skin to the Beautyblender:  Oprah Winfrey, Alicia Silverstone, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Brooke Shields, Beyonce, Jessica Simpson, Fergie, Avril Lavigne, Queen Latifah, Shakira, Carmen Electra, Macy Gray, Gwen Stefani, Diana Ross and Kerry Washington.
