Best Beauty Buy – Beautyblender

January 25, 2010

I’m sure you have heard of this unique, pink sponge that has been created to leave you with a flawless complexion. I have been trying this for about almost 2 weeks and I cannot get enough. It is so fool-proof and easy, yet gives you that airbrushed look to your makeup.

Here is a little about how you use it:

Bounce Beautyblender against your face when applying make up. Use Beutyblender’s pointed side for hard-to-reach spots like around the nose and mouth, and under the eyes.

Make sure you dampen the sponge for a better result. It will expand double it’s size so it’s easier to use.I need to buy a few more, because beauty blender will now be in my makeup kit. And it’s very simple to clean. If you clean after every time you use it, it should last for about 3-4 months, which is great.
It has it’s own cleanser that you can get with the beauty blender in the kit, or buy it separate. You can even use the cleanser to clean your brushes as well which is an added bonus.

You can buy Beauty Blender at Sephora or go to their website and find a store near you!

A Lovely Beauty Blender Duo

January 23, 2010

Long-time Bionic Beauty readers know that I’m a BeautyBlender fanatic. For those of you who haven’t heard of this little makeup application miracle, bring yourself up to speed by reading my review. My blender gets used for concealer, powdered mineral makeup, finishing powders, and liquid tinted moisturizer. Pretty much any foundation I put on, gets applied with this little pink egg-shaped wonder!

If you’re a BeautyBlender addict like me and want to share this with your mom, sister, or best friend- I’ve got good news. They’ve just released a special Valentine’s Day gift set that features two (2) BeautyBlender sponges plus ten single use packets of BlenderCleanser (which works wonders on ALL my makeup brushes!). It’s packaged cute, and the clear plastic doubles as a “drying rack” after use or after cleaning your sponge, so you don’t even have to bother wrapping it up!

We Heart This – Beautyblender

January 15, 2010

Foundation has always been one of my favorite tools in my make-up arsenal. It has the power to even out my skin tone, give it a healthy-looking texture, and conveniently covers acne and all of its related grossness.

Unfortunately, applying it can sometimes be tricky. I’ve seen many foundation foibles on my friends – the foundation mask complete with defined line at the jaw, the caked-on application from just too many layers, etc. – and ever since I’ve always been paranoid that I might walk outside with a similar catastrophe on my face. (Thank you friends, for making these mistakes so that I could learn from them).

However, I am pleased to announce that I (and that means you too) no longer have to worry about such travesties! Now that I have a beautyblender ($35 for one sponge, plus cleanser), I legitimately feel like a foundation application expert. The beautyblender sponge looks something like a hot pink egg, ingeniously designed with no edges so foundation goes on evenly without streaks. Using the application method prescribed by inventors Rea Ann Silva and Veronica Lorenz (a bouncing or, as they call it, stippling action), my foundation goes on evenly every single time. Not only that, but I can now apply foundation faster and I waste less product.

The kit also comes with a bottle of blendercleanser – a soy-based cleanser that’s free of dyes and skin irritants. It may sound gentle, but this cleaner is one tough cookie. Not only did it get my beautyblender spotless every time, but it also stripped away all the gunk off of an ancient sponge from a compact that I got in high school (don’t worry, I don’t use it, I just thought it would be a miracle if the cleanser actually got it clean)! The advantage of cleaning the sponge is that your skin will stay cleaner and the sponge will last longer!

And when the sad day comes when your beautyblender bites the dust, the company will recycle it for you! Consider me a fan.

Celebrities love Beautyblender

January 7, 2010

The BeautyBlender is the one makeup tool that I’m planning to buy this year. Celebrity makeup artist Rea Ann Silva, who did Taraji’s makeup for the 2009 Oscars, shared an insider tip with InStyle: “The key to achieving a natural-looking look, no matter how much makeup you have on, is blending it really well.” In 2010, I will rule supreme with the natural makeup look with the BeautyBlender! Just you wait!
